Enjoy a week of painting at Great Camp Sagamore, and choose from the beautiful surroundings of the lake, woods or mountains, or paint the rustic Adirondack architecture unique to Great Camp Sagamore. Participants bring the medium of their choice and any other painting supplies they need. Our expert instructor and artist Wes Sherman will work with everyone in a group setting as well as individually during this program. Meals, accommodations, and evening activities are included with your registration. Instructor
Artist Wes Sherman has been painting since 1992 and has had over 30 solo shows. He received his MFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in 2003. He is the chair of exhibitions at The Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster, New Jersey. Sherman has been a visiting artist at many universities among them Temple, Rutgers, and Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. In 2011 he also received a fellowship for painting from New Jersey Council of the Arts.

For this workshop, the instructor Wes Sherman will be working in and giving demonstrations in oil paint. He will also talk about how to use acrylic paint, watercolors, and a variety of drawing supplies.

Note: Mineral Spirits (Low Odor or Odorless) can dissolve oil pastels and can be used for blending colors and obtain painterly surface effects. Brushes would also be need for this.

Schedule Overview
Sunday Night: Check-in runs from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Dinner, camp orientation, schedule overview, and introductions. Afterward, we’ll have time to settle into rooms.
Monday: Meet with your instructor, plein air workshop, and painting demonstration. Evening workshop review with Wes Sherman. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided by GCS.
Tuesday: Plein air painting workshop around camp or out on the trails nearby. Afternoon painting demonstration and evening presentation by Wes Sherman. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided by GCS.
Wednesday: Plein air painting workshop in the morning followed by a free afternoon. Evening concert. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided by GCS.
Thursday: Plein air painting workshop around camp or out on the trails nearby. Afternoon painting demonstration. Evening art show followed by campfire at the Wigwam Lean-to. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided by GCS.
Friday: Breakfast followed by check-out at 10:00 am.
