Great Camp Sagamore is seeking a vibrant, customer-oriented person to assist the day to day interaction with registered guests, staff and visitors.

This position provides ongoing contact with the guests and patrons of Great Camp Sagamore. The individual will assist with recording reservation data, processing payments, and communicating information to guests and staff. The Assistant Registrar will also help with preparation for private events such as Weddings and the annual fundraising Gala.

This is a full-time, seasonal, non-exempt, hourly position that runs from mid-May through October. The standard work schedule is eight hours per day, five days per week. Employees will have two days off per week to pursue their own interests and enjoy the Adirondacks. Compensation includes room and board in our historic rooms and full use of the recreational facilities.

Previous experience in the Hospitality, Customer Service, or Event Management fields, is preferred but not required. All ages are encouraged to apply.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a concern for the safety, comfort, and well-being of guests and staff of the camp.

  • Tend the camp’s Main Office and address questions and requests from on-site guests as well as monitoring and answering the main camp phone line and general email account.

  • Provides directions and answers questions regarding Sagamore’s educational and historical programs, accommodations, and policies.

  • Assists with reservations and program enrollments by collecting and documenting guest details.

  • Accurately collects and processes payments while demonstrating consideration for customer privacy and security.

  • Directs calls and messages to other departments and staff members ensuring that staff have the information necessary to be successful in their duties

  • Manage the sale of wine and beer as well as other merchandise available to guests through the Main Office.

  • Complete all necessary daily and weekly reporting regarding sales, drawer balance, and inventory.

  • Assist the senior staff in the planning and preparation for various special events including Weddings and the camp’s annual fundraising Gala.

  • Provide general office support including filing, copying, and preparation of signs, documents, and handouts.

This is a nonexempt, 40 hour a week position.

Returning seasonal staff members are eligible for Sagamore’s retirement plan.
