Great Camp Sagamore's famous Grandparent - Grandchild Camp is a wonderful way to spend time together in the Adirondack wilderness. Our 'grands camp' experiences are designed to bring family generations together in a safe and beautiful natural setting. This program includes a wide variety of activities designed to embrace the connections between grandparents and grandchildren while fostering a respect for our natural environment and this National Historic Landmark. During this five night program, experience a memorable adventure tailored to all interests and skill levels while having fun and learning in a camp that is not a hotel, but a piece of history. Enjoy music and songs all week with Dan Duggan, nature-inspired art projects, and canoeing, hiking, stream exploration and games with Great Camp Sagamore’s Environmental Educators. Programming will be appropriate for grandchildren ages 6-9.

Cari Ray

- Program Director

The Grandparent-Grandchild camp will be led by Sagamore’s Program Director, Cari Ray, along with Sagamore’s talented staff of Environmental Educators. Together they will lead guided hikes, paddles, games, stream explorations, nature talks and much more. Cari believes in the value and importance of intergenerational bonds and loves to share her passion for the outdoors and the beauty of the Adironacks with people of all ages and backgrounds.

Dan Duggan

- Music Instructor (website)

Dan Duggan, nationally touring performer and teacher, is rapidly being acknowledged as one of the finest dulcimer players and composers in the country. As recipient of the prestigious National Hammered Dulcimer Championship, Dan's accomplishment, though based on technical merit, is even more considerable as he is the first winner to have performed all original compositions.

Although pioneering innovative compositional work for the dulcimer, Dan's renditions of traditional Irish and American tunes reflect his study and understanding of their original context. Whether re-creating 18th century harp pieces or vibrant 19th century dance tunes, Dan has engaged audiences nationwide in an excursion of musical styles and moods.

Peggy Lynn, Music Instructor

Peggy Lynn, singer, songwriter, and educator, brings an infectious enthusiasm to all her endeavors. Peggy ranges from folksy to blues with equal ease, alone or harmonizing with others. With a sultry, yet powerful alto voice, Peggy gives a clear message of the passion underlying her songs. While her style and range give meaning and emotion to all her work, her most powerful message is for the contributions and burdens of women.

George Steele, Environmental Educator

For more than 40 years, George Steele has been an environmental science education consultant. He lives at Seek-No-Further Farm just south of Amsterdam, NY, with his wife, Anita Sanchez (author and environmental educator), their two sons, Alex and Timothy, two dogs, two cats, and a hard to count number of chickens.
