Woodcarving Weekend (Learn to Carve a Loon)

Learn to carve and paint a realistic miniature loon, symbol of the Adirondack wilderness with professional woodcarvers Rick and Ellen Bütz. If we’re lucky we may have live models on Sagamore Lake while we work.

Topics covered include tool selection, sharpening and safe carving techniques. All tools and materials are provided, but if you have your own carving tools and small paintbrushes please feel welcome to bring them. For beginning and intermediate woodcarvers age 16 to adult.

Rick and Ellen Bütz are Adirondack woodcarvers with 40 years experience, specializing in wildlife and figure carving. They enjoy introducing people to the fun of woodcarving with classes designed to give beginning and intermediate woodcarvers everything they need to know to create their own works of art.
